Course Overview

This series covers basic installation, operation, and troubleshooting operating systems on workstations and servers. The learner will be able to explain fundamental open source resources/licenses, demonstrate knowledge of user administration, understand file permissions/software configurations and manage local storage devices and network protocols. When all five courses are taken in the Linux+ series (16260, 16261, 16262, 16263, & 16264), this is an authorized self-study program to help prepare learners for the CompTIA Linux+ certification exam.

Unit 1: Documentation 2 hours

- Identify utilities used for capturing hardware configurations in Linux.
- Identify features of package managers used in Linux.

- Identify online resources that provide information for troubleshooting Linux problems.

Unit 2: Configuring Hardware 2 hours

- Identify features of common hardware components and resources used in Linux systems.
- Identify features of various removable hardware devices.
- Identify important aspects of Advanced Power Management (APM).
- Identify features of Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI).
- Identify key aspects of configuring hard disks in Linux.
- Identify steps for configuring a Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) device in Linux.
- Identify features of commands used for working with removable media.

Course Access

Each student has access to the course for a period of 6 months from the day of enrollment in the course.
