Typically learners will work in a networked environment that requires using e-mail for one-to-one, as well as group contacts and for arranging meetings and appointments through Microsoft Outlook. Learners will need a basic knowledge of either Microsoft Office 97 or 2000 programs and be familiar with Windows 9X or later.

    This course presents the learner with the basics of Microsoft Outlook 2002. Individuals will learn how to open and reply to e-mail messages, insert attachments in messages and schedule appointments in the Outlook Calendar.

    Unit 1: Basic Messaging Features in Outlook 2002 2 - 3 hours

    - Start and exit Outlook 2002.
    - Identify the components of the Outlook 2002 interface.
    - Obtain help by using the Outlook 2002 Office Assistant.
    - Obtain help by using the Answer Wizard tab in the Outlook 2002 Help window.
    - Identify features of the Inbox folder.
    - Compose and send a message by using Outlook 2002.
    - Check the spelling in a message by using Spelling Checker.
    - Address a message by using an address list.
    - Recall a message sent to a recipient.
    - Set your default message format.
    - Attach a document as a file attachment by using the Insert menu.
    - Insert a signature into a message.
    - Identify options available when sending messages.
    - Read a message in the Preview pane and in its own window.
    - Reply to a message by using the Reply and Reply to All buttons.
    - Forward a message to a new recipient by using the Forward button.
    - Print a message by using the File menu.
    - Save a message as a text only file.

    Unit 2: Outlook Intermediate Messaging Features 2 - 3 hours

    - Open a Microsoft Office file attachment.
    - Print a message attachment.
    - Save a file attachment to a folder.
    - Delete an unwanted message by using the standard toolbar.
    - Flag a message for follow-up by using the Follow Up command.
    - Mark a message.
    - Sort messages by using column headings.

    - Match the built-in views that filter messages with their functions.
    - Apply a filter to a list of messages by using the Filter dialog box.

    Unit 3: Scheduling with Calendar 2 hours

    - Identify features of the Calendar.
    - Schedule a single appointment.
    - Edit a single appointment.
    - Apply a conditional format to an appointment in Calendar.
    - Schedule a recurring appointment by using the Recurrence button.
    - Edit a recurring appointment.
    - Schedule an event.
    - Delete an appointment and an event.
    - Customize a built-in view in Calendar.
    - Identify the calendar customization options available in the Calendar Options dialog box.
    - Print a Calendar by using the options in the Print dialog box.

    Course Access

    Each student has access to the course for a period of 6 months from the day of enrollment in the course.
