    This series covers basic installation, operation, and troubleshooting operating systems on workstations and servers. The learner will be able to explain fundamental open source resources/licenses, demonstrate knowledge of user administration, understand file permissions/software configurations and manage local storage devices and network protocols.

    Unit 1: Networking 2 hours

    - Identify key aspects of TCP/IP.
    - Identify types of network interfaces that can be used with Linux.
    - Identify guidelines for configuring network interfaces.
    - Identify considerations for configuring wireless networks.
    - Identify key aspects of various files and scripts used for configuring basic network services.
    - Identify considerations for configuring client-side DNS.
    - Identify considerations for configuring DCHP client services.
    - Identify considerations for configuring basic network services by using the inetd and xinetd daemons.
    - Identify guidelines for configuring a DNS server.
    - Identify guidelines for configuring a DHCP server.
    - Identify methods to configure a Web server.
    - Identify considerations for configuring a SAMBA server.
    - Identify considerations to configure NFS for file sharing.

    Unit 2: Printing and Spooling 1 hour

    - Identify key aspects of LPRng.

    Course Access

    Each student has access to the course for a period of 6 months from the day of enrollment in the course.
