  • Anforderungen The audience would ideally have experience developing Web and enterprise applications using XML. They would typically work as a Application Developer or a Software Engineer. Previous Web development experience using HTML is required. At least elementary knowledge about other programming or scripting languages is recommended.

  • Inhalt Course Description

    This first course in the series will teach learners why XML is useful for developing Web and enterprise applications and the basics about how to write XML well-formed documents. It will cover the history of XML, the features and benefits of XML, writing XML documents, and using style sheets, including Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and the Extensible Style Language (XSL). This course will provide the foundation for the second course in the series.

    Unit 2: XML DTD Fundamentals 2 - 3 hours

    - Define attributes in XML.
    - Identify the features of parsed character data (PCDATA).
    - Define entities in XML.
    - Identify the features of character entities used with XML.
    - Reference an external file using entities.
    - Identify the characteristics of notation in external non-XML data.
    - Identify the characteristics of conditional sections in Document Type Definitions (DTDs).
    - Identify the features of namespaces in an Extensible Markup Language (XML) document.
    - Identify the procedure for applying a namespace to an XML document.
    - Identify the issues to consider for schema improvement in XML.
    - Identify the functions and features of XML schemas.
    - Identify the features and functions of data types in XML.
    - Write an XML schema.
    - Identify the features of XML vocabularies in different fields of business.

    Unit 3: XML Documents: Presenting 2 hours

    - Identify key stages in the development of cascading style sheets and HTML.
    - Identify the methods of presenting XML in browsers.
    - Identify the functions and features of cascading style sheets.
    - Identify the procedure for associating Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) syntax structure to an XML document.
    - Identify the role of Extensible Style sheet Language (XSL) in XML.
    - Identify the structure of an XSLT style sheet.
    - Create an XSL Transformation (XSLT) style sheet using Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    - Identify the functions and features of Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) style properties.
    - Create a Cascading Style Sheet (CSS).
    - Identify the role of pattern matching in XPath.
    - Identify the functions and features of XSLT elements.
    - Identify the differences between cascading style sheets and XSL Transformation (XSLT) technologies.
    - Perform the steps to convert the Extensible Markup Language (XML) to Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML).
    - Identify the features of XML parsers.
    - Identify the features of the main XML browsers.

    Course Access

    Each student has access to the course for a period of 6 months from the day of enrollment in the course.
