    Course Overview

    This is the fourth course in a five part series that covers the history of frame relay, frame relay mode protocol architecture and call control. This course also covers LAPF, congestion in frame relay networks, approaches to congestion control, traffic rate management, explicit congestion avoidance and implicit congestion control.

    Unit 1: Switching 3 - 4 hours

    Unit 2: Frame Relay 3 - 4 hours

    - Identify the key features of Frame Relay.
    - Identify the cost benefits of Frame Relay.
    - Identify the similarities between Frame Relay and X.25.
    - Identify characteristics of the Frame Relay frame format.
    - Identify the Frame Relay core protocol.
    - Identify the relationship between Frame Relay speeds.
    - Identify options that are available when provisioning Frame Relay access.
    - Identify key functions of Frame Relay Access Devices (FRADs).
    - Identify the key functions of permanent virtual circuits (PVCs).
    - Identify the key functions of switched virtual circuits (SVCs).
    - Identify the key functions of data-link connection identifiers (DLCIs).
    - Identify the key functions of Local Management Interface (LMI).
    - Identify the key factors to be considered when controlling congestion.
    - Identify Frame Relay performance considerations.
    - Match Committed Information Rate (CIR) components with their definitions.
    - Identify the key factors to be considered when dealing with discard eligibility.
    - Identify the features of Explicit Congestion Notification.
    - Identify the features of Frame Relay over geosynchronous satellites.
    - Identify the key factors to consider when running Systems Network Architecture (SNA) over Frame Relay.
    - Identify the key factors to consider when running Voice over Frame Relay (VoFR).

    Course Access
