    This series covers basic installation, operation, and troubleshooting operating systems on workstations and servers. The learner will be able to explain fundamental open source resources/licenses, demonstrate knowledge of user administration, understand file permissions/software configurations and manage local storage devices and network protocols.

    - Identify important aspects of scheduling processes.
    - Identify characteristics of various commands for monitoring and troubleshooting network activity.

    - Identify key aspects of package management.
    - Identify key aspects of Network Information Service (NIS) configuration.
    - Identify features of Mail Transport Agents (MTAs) used for managing mail queues.
    - Identify features of command line interface (CLI) utilities.
    - Identify commands for manipulating text files.

    - Identify important aspects of shell scripting.

    - Identify steps to add and remove user and group accounts.
    - Identify guidelines for backup and recovery planning.
    - Identify characteristics of different utilities to back up filesystems.

    Unit 3: Printing and Spooling 1 hour

    - Identify characteristics of a printing system.
    - Identify commands to work with the Line Printer - next generation (LPRng) printing system.
    - Identify commands to work with the Common UNIX Printing System (CUPS).
    - Identify options to share printers with Windows.

    Course Access

    Each student has access to the course for a period of 6 months from the day of enrollment in the course.
